About: Pastor Bill

Rev. Bill Gates is the pastor and chief pot-stirrer at Parkrose United Methodist Church in Portland, OR. An alumnus of Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California, Rev. Bill began his ministry almost twenty years ago in Richmond, California for three years, and was associate pastor at Lake Oswego UMC from 1995 to 2000. He worked as a community organizer in Portland from 2000-2002. After serving the United Methodist church in Roseburg, Oregon for a 6-month interim period he was appointed to the Parkrose UMC in NE Portland. Bill has been at Parkrose UMC since 2002. Rev. Bill enjoys and finds inspiration in God’s great outdoors via canoeing, hiking, skiing and bicycling. He currently serves on the Oregon-Idaho Camp and Retreat Ministries board and has a long-time connection with the camping program with previous time spent as dean and counselor for camps at the Magruder and Sawtooth camp locations.
