“Anke djé, anke bé”

Djembe comes from the saying “Anke djé, anke bé” which translates to “everyone gather together in peace” and defines the drum’s purpose. In the Bambara language, “djé” is the verb for “gather” and “bé” translates as “peace.” Gather in peace to make a joyful noise!

“When you hear the drums, you know something exciting is about to happen!” John Ette (second from left below)

Please join us every Sunday morning for a very informal and incredibly spiritual drum circle 9:40 a.m. before worship. Absolutely no experience required… well, there is one thing required, and that is you have to have a heart beat! Plenty of drums to go around.
